We learned how to ethically harvest food, drink, and medicine from common trees like Pine, Oak, and Maple, and also discussed the making of cordage and fire. Throughout the walk Dan sometimes shared different aspects of indigenous culture in regard to the specific tree we were discussing, rounding out the educational experience. He also pointed out several useful &amp;quot;weeds&amp;quot; as we passed them by. We sniffed pine needles, tasted wild rosehips, and munched on hairy bittercress. The walk was informative, interactive, and inspiring, and everyone in the group helped make it interesting and enjoyable. The day after the walk I cut my thumb while chopping vegetables, and walked right out the door toward the nearest pine tree so I could put sap on it! It is healing quickly!! I will be participating in future events, for sure!</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/1517817969801498390/2578473929507085444/comments/default/4607189692728786827'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/1517817969801498390/2578473929507085444/comments/default/4607189692728786827'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.barefootfreedom.net/2010/11/look-up-medicinal-trees.html?showComment=1290099240536#c4607189692728786827' title=''/><author><name>Jessi love.</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/05528759385993854375</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img1.blogblog.com/img/blank.gif'/></author><thr:in-reply-to xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' href='http://www.barefootfreedom.net/2010/11/look-up-medicinal-trees.html' ref='tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1517817969801498390.post-2578473929507085444' source='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/1517817969801498390/posts/default/2578473929507085444' type='text/html'/><gd:extendedProperty xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' name='blogger.itemClass' value='pid-1119239377'/></entry></feed>
